Q and A with Kosta Bourandanis

Kosta, for those who don’t know, what was the inspiration behind founding Solar Cutters and how has the organisation evolved since then?

Solar Cutters was founded to create a community of professionals dedicated to maintaining high standards and integrity within the solar industry. Since 2017, we have grown significantly, establishing ourselves as a trusted voice in the industry. We have expanded our community through a membership program and have been actively working to give back to the industry. We have supported the industry with education and professional development, organising face to face training events plus so much more.

What key initiatives does Solar Cutters have planned to support the solar community in the future?

Apart from continuing our roadshows around Australia to connect with and educate installers and solar professionals, we’re also looking at innovative and fun ways to give back to the community. We are in the process of developing some new training programs and working on some industry collaborations. And of course, we have some fun social events planned as well. The health and happiness of the solar community is paramount to ensure a successful industry, which is also why we are working with some great charities and causes to help foster positive outcomes even outside the day-to-day workings of the solar industry. Our focus remains on fostering a supportive and high-standard community, that self regulates, encourages growth, innovates, and above all leads the industry into a better future.

Why do you believe Omnidian’s offerings are vital for the solar industry?

The industry has unfortunately suffered from a reputation tarnished by unreliable ‘cowboy’ retailers and installers, which has led to a significant loss of customer trust. In response, Omnidian addresses this critical market gap by providing exceptional, proactive post-installation service on behalf of retailers. This not only helps retailers set themselves apart from the competition, but also raises the overall industry standard.

Why are organisations like Solar Cutters and Omnidian important for the industry?

In a time when the reputation of the solar sector is under scrutiny, organisations like Solar Cutters and Omnidian play an important role in restoring confidence and driving positive change. Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is exactly what the industry needs to rebuild trust and promote the adoption of solar. Solar isn’t slowing down, and we must ensure that the right companies and people at the forefront leading it.
